Ko wai tatou
Who are we
A Not for profit organisation built on the firm Māori beliefs of Hauora aimed to bridge the gap of economic demographics by providing essential and basic resources to our Whānau and providing mentoring and skills to try and break the poverty cycle.
Kura Cares Kaupapa
To enhance the lives of Whānau living in low socioeconomic areas through projects that are heavily based around our Hauora principles. Taha hinengaro – mental health and emotions; Taha wairua – spiritual health, Taha tinana – physical health and Taha Whānau – Whānau as the epicenter of one's wellbeing. Inseparability of mind and body; expressing thoughts and feelings.
We serve our Māori and Pacific Whānau within Tāmaki Makaurau by providing basic essential resources to help raise the living standards of our Whānau in poverty with the aim to support our community of today and shape the communities of tomorrow which will then bridge the gap of income demographics within our Whānau therefore raising the living standards of our community then breaking the cycle

Why Kura Cares timata
‘Do what’s best for your community and the community will do what’s best for you’.
During the first COVID 19 lock down in 2020, our community was in disarray due to job losses, economic hardship, and the increase in living costs. We felt and knew the impact it had on our community would be immense and it really was, the severe economic impact was huge on our Māori and Pacific Whānau in the Papakura community which is a socially quantile 5 region in a normal unrestricted working climate. in 2021, we’ve noticed a huge demand for our services as businesses cannot sustain themselves during lock downs which then is passed down to the employees and in turn our Whānau become victims of this which has created a massive hole in our community in all facets of Whānau lives. The sole reason why Kura Cares was created was to help fill this hole with the miniscule financial support assistance and resources we have received from donations.
We firmly believe that through the Kura Care service to the community we are enabling and giving self-leadership to raise living standards of Whānau just above or below the poverty line which in turn is gradually bridging the social and economic inequities.
Currently we have achieved our projects by pulling in our community resources, fundraising, working in collaboration with local businesses, organizations, and generous people to execute projects and deliver food parcels to vulnerable Whānau. We believe in working with the community for the community.
We have the capacity for growth and are currently experiencing unprecedented demand for our services. Our systems and processes are ready to roll out and expand to a greater specialized level to cater for more Whānau than just food, but for all Covid related emergency response related issues, health care and Whānau housing. We know what’s needed and we’ve identified what we need to add to the Kura Cares Services to help our Whānau on a bigger scale.
